LDSC held its annual Charity Doubles Tournament on Saturday 27th November raising over £200 for the Keech Hospice.
The teams were split into two groups of three initially for a round robin series of matches. In the first group Sean Davies and Arif Khanzada beat previous winners Glenn Skelton and Peter Capp 2-1. They then has a 2-0 win against Raymond Sharma and son Kurran.
In the second group Stephen Axford and son Alex had a 2-0 win against Carl Bates and Glen Bush followed by another 2-0 win against Dave Merrill and John Stephens.
The winners of both groups then played for the trophies over the best of five games. Here Davies and Khanzada were 2-1 down but came through to win 3-2 against the Axfords. Davies and Khanzada as left and right handers were both able to play on their forehands as they played left and right sides. Whereas the Axfords played front and back.
Angie Simms presented the winners with the Chris Simms trophy whilst the runners up received the Pete Hilliard trophy.
Many thanks to those who took part, those that donated and to Angie Simms for presenting the trophies. In total the event raised over £200 which will be donated to the Keech Hospice.
