LDSC hosted Chantry on Tuesday determined to make amends for a humbling defeat the week before and they did so in some style.
Early on it didn't look as things were going to go that way as the numbers 5 & 3 strings went behind early on. Natalie Main and Antony Di Blasio respectively both lost their opening games, Di Blasio in particular struggling against the visitor's Ian Baker. Di Blasio then proceeded to lose the second, barely troubling the marker, but Main recovered to level against James Argent. With signs of a recovery, Di Blasio seemed to take heart and showed a Lazurus style recovery to level and eventually take the match, much to the consternation of his opponent. The whole evening looked like it might be a long one as Argent took the 3rd in the 5th string match, before Main showed great spirit and composure to level. It was nip and tuck in the fifth until Main rattled off four points in a row to get a handful of match balls of which she converted the second. Main was "awarded" the "Player of the Month" on the SquashLevels ranking system showing an improvement of nearly 30% in November.
Up next were the 2 & 4 strings, Amir Jafri and John Stevens. Stevens struggled badly against the awkward left hander Josh Beaumont and was quickly despatched 3-0. In an almost mirror image Jafri pumelled his opponent, Paul Carter, in the first two games before winning the third 19-17. Carter would have been dreaming about brutal lunges all night one suspects.
With match won for LDSC it was left to no 1 string Sean Davies to put the icing on the cake with a convincing 3-0 win over Mark Douglas.
Next week the team are away to bottom club Bushey and will be looking to push on as the season reaches the half way mark.
