LDS head coach, Steve Davies, has been working for some months on creating a County junior side on the back of the increased junior participation at Flitwick and at the Lewsey Squash Centre, home of LDS.
Last night, 7th September, those formative plans began the preliminary stage of coming to fruition with the first squad session, run by Steve, aimed at priming the most promising youngsters aged 13 and under for their first exposure to formal County Competition.
Jasmine Watson, Hannah Stevens, Sam McCoy and Alex Tentori enthusiastically took part in the session and participated with all the enthusiasm you would expect for youngsters of their age. There was no shortage of talent on show either.
For some time there has been a gap in the system locally to take youngsters to the next level and expose them to more enjoyable and broader experiences than those they have currently on a weekly basis at their home venues. Hopefully this is the start of a long lasting programme to raise the profile of squash in the County and encourage more youngsters to take up the game.
Best of luck to everyone involved.
